Carye's obituary

Carye Marie Girard passed away Sunday, February 19, 2023 in Boise, ID.

Carye was born July 9, 1969 to Raymond and Debra Girard, in Pocatello, ID.

She is survived by her life partner Brandon Bariel of Boise ID, her children, Amanda Popejoy, Jason Covert, Shaniya Starlight, four grandchildren, her father Raymond Girard, her brother Cory Girard, niece Ashley Bakes, as well as many friends and family members that surrounded Carye with love. She is preceded in death by her mother, Debra Girard, and grandparents, Otto and Hazel Girard.

Carye grew up in Inkom ID and graduated from Pocatello High School in 1987. She was very active in 4H growing up which fueled her passion for horses, horsemanship and rodeo. She excelled in rodeo and was crowned High School Rodeo Queen two years in a row. She competed in barrel racing, pole being, goat tying and horsemanship. She went on to win Idaho State Horsemanship twice with her horse Streaker which she held near and dear to her heart. Streaker was her ultimate companion and her love for him was known by everyone that knew her.

As a young adult, Carye worked as a bank teller at KeyBank and enjoyed accounting. She held several jobs as a personal secretary and bookkeeper; she was really good with numbers and business strategy and even helped found an automotive repair business in Blackfoot, ID.

She enjoyed many recreational activities throughout her years and found a new joy in camping, fishing, paddle boarding, hiking and exploring the Boise outdoors in the most recent of years.

Carye had many relationships but was blessed to have met Brandon in 2013. Our family is thankful for the love that Brandon and his family was able to provide her and find solace in the fact that she felt loved.

In Brandon’s words: “Carye was imperfectly perfect. Her heart was pure. She brought joy and laughter to our family. We all loved her and she loved us. My love for Carye was unconditional. It wasn’t dependent on her being perfect. I loved her as she was. Her heart was pure gold.”

There will be a private memorial service for family and close friends, tentatively on March 11th, 2023, in Boise ID. Details to follow as they become available. There will also be a spreading of her remains in Inkom ID, this spring.
