Stumpy's obituary
Carter “Stumpy” Warriner III, of Chesterfield, Virginia, passed away on December 13, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on July 25, 1940, in Richmond, Virginia, he lived a long and full life marked by dedication to his family, his work, and his passions.
Stumpy retired from DuPont after an impressive 40-year career. His commitment and work ethic were hallmarks of his professional life, earning him the respect of colleagues and friends alike.
He shared 62 devoted years of marriage with his beloved wife Jeanette. Together they raised two daughters, Tracie and Kim, and built a legacy that continues through their six grandchildren: Jessie (William), Michael (Charleen), Devon (Taysia), Eric, Patrick, and Conner. Stumpy also took great joy in his four great-grandchildren: Lucas, Waylon, Rowan, and Madelyn. He is also remembered by his siblings Rock, Betsy, and Jeff.
A man of few words but deep conviction, Stumpy’s quiet strength left a lasting impression on those who knew him. He found peace and exhilaration in the outdoors—an avid hunter with a passion for deep sea fishing. Among his most prized hunting accomplishments were a grizzly bear, black bear, and elk—testaments to both his skill and adventurous spirit.
When not outdoors or spending time with family, Stumpy could often be found watching baseball or football. But perhaps nothing brought him more comfort than settling in to watch old western movies—especially those starring John Wayne.
His loyal companions Bear, Bella and Kindel (his dogs) and CeCe and Lucky (his cats) were never far from his side.
Carter “Stumpy” Warriner III will be deeply missed by all who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to those who loved him and inspiration to those who admired the quiet strength with which he lived.
