Carrie's obituary
As a proud Texan, Carrie loved exploring the hill country, tubing Texas rivers, fishing for the big one, and felt most at home on a sandy shoreline. She had a passion for traveling and adventure, so whether Carrie was staying at a beach house, on a cruise ship with her friends, white water rafting, travelling Europe, dashing through a daring zip lining trip, or water sports at Lake Livingston with her family, she always knew how to make the people around her laugh, dance, and have an incredible time. Her energy and zeal for life was contagious, and endearing to all that were graced with her light.
Carrie was a personable, and hard worker. She worked many wonderful years under Mr. Woodard at Woodard, Hall, & Primm, and later at Strasburger & Price. In addition to working for over 18 years as a Senior Accounting Assistant, she also loved tasks around the house with her husband Dan, cultivating plants, and collecting any number of curiosities. She often donated her time to those that were in need, and rescued various unfortunate animals throughout her life. Carrie once said she’d never live without at least one dog, and we have no doubt that she’s now with all those beloved family members that have passed. Somewhere, Spencer, Maggie, Daisy and Lacie, are again perched loyally by her side.
In her short time here on this earth, Carrie laughed hard and often, found lasting love, danced, and sang with a proud voice, took risks, and sought out adventure. She always worked hard, and showed up for those that she loved. To say she will be missed is an understatement. Her smile and strength will continue to live on through her husband, daughters, son, grandkids, and all those whose lives were made just a little brighter, and more fun, because she was a part of it.
She desired, at the end of her time here with us all, to be celebrated, in her recollection, rather than mourned. That she’d be remembered as full of life, and that she’d be seen as she truly was, free.
Best friend Georgia Giblin "Webster describes “friend” as “a person whom one knows one well and cherishes”. Not even close to what Carrie was and will always be to me. We became instant “friends” when I began working at WH&P in 1990. When I met Carrie she was about to have a breast reduction. She said I could have what they took from her. Now that's a friend. Carrie is that person who sees someone in need and she offers her help. Sadly, or not, I was not allowed to add her leftovers to my flat chest. But that is Carrie. Thoughtful and considerate and kind and loving and giving and beautiful. We had so so so many great fun times together, our beach trips, Fredrickburg trips, cruises, Christmas parties, birthday parties and lately chilling in the Guadalupe River, just getting together and celebrating life. We shared Grandchildren together. We laughed lots and cried when sad times hit us. She was always there when I needed that “friend”. She would have given the shirt off her back to anyone in need. I miss my “friend”........as my husband lovingly said......she's your partner in crime."
Close friend, Sally Wilson:
"Five years of knowing Carrie McGinnis just wasn't enough. Our children introduced us, and we became like two peas in a pod. The joy, and laughter of our friendship was effortless, and our sincere love and respect for each other was known deeply in our hearts.
Rest in peace my dear friend. You are, and will be continuously missed in my life, and in the life of all who had the honor to call you friend, or family.
Dear Carrie,
"Carrie and I met when we both worked at Micro-met she 17 , me 18. We became close friends quickly and were tied to the hip for many years. Moved to Colorado together and had many trips to the mountains, camping, skiing, and working. She was one of the most hardest workers and a loyal friend to me and many. I will cherish our adventures and memories we shared through out of 43yr friendship. Those we Love don't go away, they walk beside us every day, unseen, unheard, but always near. Still Loved, Still missed and very dear. Until we meet again my dearest friend."
Much love friend,
May your soul be at rest.
