Carolyn Marie Shanks (84), last residing, 315 Senaca Drive Daytona Beach Florida passed away May 16,2023 at 6:35 PM, She is survived by her siblings Bernadette Adams, Ann Mitchell, and Eddie Graham. Her four children were with her in the end, consoled, knowing she is at peace, with their father in Heaven now.

Carolyn was born in Nashville Tennessee on January 2, 1939, and graduated from St Cecilia High School, and married John William Shanks Jr in 1957. After raising her children, Michael Wiliam, Cynthia Lynn, Jeffery Leland and Keith Edward, she later became a licensed cosmetologist and enjoyed many years making the women in Nashville beautiful.

As a mother of four, grandmother of 12, and great grandmother of 23. Her family tree was full of blooms that will forever flower in her memory. She taught us to be strong, faithful, true to ourselves, and to take care of our families. She always told us if we put God first, the rest will fall in place as it was meant to be.

She loved family gatherings, with all the grands and greats gathered around her. She loved garage sales, bandshell Saturday nights, Dancing, going to children’s ball games and birthday parties, most of all she loved her family football Sundays.

Her friends were her treasures, in Nashville, and at her home for the last 20 years, the Meeting Place in Daytona where she loved gathering with the girls for doughnut breakfasts, games after lunch and dinners with friends. The lives she has touched as she journeyed through life will forever be touched.

We will Celebrate her life on July 1st, 2023 at the Chart House Restaurant, at the Daytona Marina from 12:30 to 2:30 with her Florida family and friends. We will have a Mass with Intention during Saturday 5:00 pm mass, the evening of August 26th, at her childhood church where she married our dad, St Anne’s Catholic Church.
