Carolyn's obituary
Carolyn Sue Luck, a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 82. She was born in Lubbock, Texas, on November 20, 1942, to Leon and Pearl Day.
Carolyn grew up in the Fort Worth, Texas area, where she graduated from Arlington Heights High School in 1960 and later from Rutherford Metropolitan Business School in 1963. As a young woman, she cherished attending teen dances at Carlswell Air Force Base. It was at Burton Hill Baptist Church that she met the love of her life, Bobby Luck. Carolyn and Bobby were married in Fort Worth on January 18, 1963, beginning a lifelong partnership.
They welcomed their first daughter, Rebecca, while in Fort Worth in 1965. After moving to Silver City, New Mexico, in 1968, their family grew with the arrival of Melissa in 1970 and Susan in 1980.
A dedicated community member, Carolyn joined Beta Sigma Phi in 1972, where she cultivated lifelong friendships and committed herself to years of community service. While she held various jobs in Fort Worth and Silver City, her greatest joy and most cherished "job" was that of Mom and Grandma.
Carolyn had a passion for the outdoors, often found camping with her family in the Gila Wilderness. She also loved to read, travel, and follow her favorite show, General Hospital. Her family will forever remember her chocolate chip cookies, Kentucky Derby pie, and incredible chile rellenos.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Pearl Day; her brother, James Day; her sister, June Ritchie; and her beloved husband, Bobby Luck.
She is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law: Rebecca (John), Melissa (Scott), and Susan (Robert). She also leaves behind her five cherished grandchildren: Anna (Blu), Hallie (Kyle), Robby, Marshall, and Jacob.
Though she will be missed terribly, we take comfort in knowing how loved she was and how much she loved us.
A family service to honor Carolyn's life will be held at a later date.
