Carolyn's obituary
Carolyn was the beautiful, independent, eldest daughter of Lewis and Louise White. In 1961 she graduated from Afred E. Beach High School in Savannah, GA then moved to the “big city” of Washington DC. With the help of her Aunt Emma-Jean and cousins, Carolyn made DC her new home. Carolyn worked hard to forge her own path and soon after started a family and found a career as an accountant.
Carolyn proudly worked at GSA of Washington, DC for over 20 years as an accountant all while raising four boys, primarily on her own. Carolyn never learned to drive but would get around the city like a pro using public transportation. Which wasn’t always easy while raising a family. Her interests ranged from reading, shopping, cooking, horse races (in her younger days), watching her “stories”, western movies, and studying the word of the lord.
For more than 10 years Carolyn devotedly attended the Capital Wesleyan Church in Washington, DC. When she became too ill to continue to live in DC she moved to Virginia and had the opportunity to visit the church a few more times. Not wanting to miss church services and always wanting to study the word of the lord, she then began to attend bible studies and services with visiting pastors of the Annie B. Rose House.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her son Jay Leigh and is survived by her beloved three sons Tyrone Leigh, Christopher Mills, Corey Mills, daughter in-law Jackilu Mills, granddaughter Melanie Mills, Sister Janette Stewart and a host of cousin, nephews, nieces and other relatives.
