Carolyn's obituary
Carolyn Ann Kraft, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 72 on May 24, 2024.
Born on November 14, 1951, in East Saint Louis, IL, Carolyn was the daughter of Earl Joseph Toon and Anna Wilma Toon. She grew up in East Saint Louis and attended St. Theresa Catholic High School.
Carolyn was a devoted mother who raised nine children and welcomed several foster children into her home, providing them with love, care, and guidance. Her nurturing spirit and unwavering support shaped the lives of many.
A faithful member of the Catholic Franciscan order, Carolyn embodied the values of compassion, humility, and service. She was actively involved in her church and community, offering her time and resources to help those in need.
Carolyn is survived by eight children: Keith Kraft, Brian Kraft, Eric Kraft, Jennifer Kraft, Bridget Kraft, Cassandra Kraft, Jessica DeSanto, and Phillip Kraft; and her three grandchildren. She is also survived by her two sisters, Ruth Lexa and Wilma Barbour. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl Joseph Toon and Anna Wilma Toon, and her daughter, Sheila Kraft.
One of Carolyn’s favorite quotes was, “You cannot do great things, only small things with great love,” by Mother Teresa of Calcutta. This quote perfectly encapsulates her approach to life and her deep compassion for others.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2024. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., followed by the service at 11 a.m., at the Cathedral of St. Peter in Belleville, IL. Carolyn will be laid to rest at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Centreville, IL directly after the funeral service.
In celebration of Carolyn’s life, Close Friends & Family are welcome to join the family at Mariachi’s Mexican Restaurant in Belleville, IL from 2 p.m. - 6 p.m.
Carolyn will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, compassion, and dedication will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
