Carolyn's obituary
Carolyn Sue Holstein
April 14, 1941 - November 8, 2024
On November 8th, 2024, Carolyn Sue Holstein, 83, of St. Albans, WV, lost her battle with IPMN, a rare condition that she lived with and the associated complications for the last 3 ½ years. During her life, her dedication to service to her family, friends, neighbors, and community was known well. Those that knew her will miss her dearly and some have and will follow in her shoes. Those shoes to fill are big, being that she was one of the most selfless and giving humans we have ever known.
She passed away peacefully at Mercy Hospital in Charlotte, NC. She spent the last 3 ½ years bouncing between coasts getting specialized medical care with her children, Rose Anne Nuchims of Charlotte, NC and Eric Holstein Nuchims and her only grandchild, Alora Skye Nuchims, of Seattle, WA and Long Beach, CA.
Carolyn was born April 14, 1941 in St. Albans, WV, the oldest daughter of Gloria and Holbert Holstein. She was preceded in death by both her parents and her younger brother, Holbert “Sonny” Holstein, Jr. She is survived by her younger siblings Anne Ashley and Wesley Holstein, her two children Rose and Eric, and her granddaughter Alora.
Carolyn Sue wore many hats of service, from the Women’s Club of Saint Albans, Americorps, Pilot Club, Saint Francis of Assisi Church and School, Brownie Troop leader for the Girl Scouts of America, and Daughters of the American Revolution.
