Carolyn's obituary
Carolyn Clark, age 82, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2025, in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, Carolyn was a spirited and curious soul from the start. She attended Hughes High School, where she shone as an avid swimmer and captain of the dive team. Her passion for creativity soon led her across the world to Lucerne, Switzerland, where she pursued her love of art and completed her studies.
Carolyn launched her career as a graphic designer in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, eventually working with the acclaimed Charles Eames. Her journey took her to New York City, where her talent flourished and fate introduced her to jazz musician Allen Blairman. Together, they welcomed their daughter in 1970 and spent many years touring throughout Europe as a family.
Later, Carolyn returned to Cincinnati with her daughter, continuing her design work and embracing new passions. She became a disciplined runner, a thoughtful writer, and an active member of the book and science club. For a time, she even managed a blues piano player—just one of the many adventures that reflected her deep appreciation for art, music, and life itself.
In 2018, Carolyn moved to Honolulu to be closer to her daughter and grandsons, spending her final years surrounded by love, laughter, and the beauty of the island. Her boundless curiosity, creative spirit, and lighthearted grace will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Kamala Clark (Blairman) Nayeli, and her beloved grandsons, Kahi Mateo Nayeli and Manoa Jivan Nayeli.
