Carolyn's obituary
Ms. Carolyn Burks Leftwich was born on December 16, 1954 to Ms. Carrie Washington and Mr. James Rawill of Montgomery, Alabama. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carolyn Burks, who departed from this world on January 17, 2025 and in her 70 years of life, she left an indelible mark on all those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She gave her life to Christ at an early age, she joined Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church under the fellowship of Rev. Walter E. Ellis She is proceeded in death by her mother, Carrie Bell Washington, father James Rawell, and son Norman Burks.
Carolyn is survived by her beloved son, Quincey (Anquetta) Burks of Montgomery, AL, two daughters, Carolyn (Katavian)Dowdell of Greenwood, Indiana, Christine (Willie Jr.) Edwards of Montgomery, AL. Seven grandchildren, Kelita Golson, Quinntorious (Rodrick) Norman Jr., QuinnShea "Ms. Burks" Burks, Jalin Burks, Logan Edwards, Tahj Dowdell, Rainey Dowdell, Melanie "Tutu" Edwards. Five great grandchildren, Kameron Golson, Rodrick Norman, Rylan Norman, Ka'mari Golson, and Leilani Burks. She was a beacon of warmth, sweetness, and care to not only her family but also her extended community. Her gentle soul and nurturing nature are qualities that will be remembered by all.
Carolyn was a woman of strong faith and lived by the lesson: "To put everything in the Lord's hands." This mantra guided her throughout her life and inspired those around her to approach obstacles with faith and courage.
Carolyn's commitment to her professional life was extraordinary. She dedicated over two decades of her life to Glovis Hyundai Manufacturing contributing significantly to their operations. Her hard work, diligence, and dedication are an inspiration to all who knew her work ethic.
Carolyn's legacy is one of kindness and generosity. Always ready to lend a hand, her selfless love has nurtured a community that will carry on her spirit, making her memory everlasting. We mourn her loss deeply, but we celebrate the life she lived and the love she left behind. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
