Caroline's obituary
Growing up in Bronx, NY, she later became an Air Force wife to her 1st husband Michael J. Hoenig III (deceased), living in Munich, Germany, Arkansas, Massachusetts and Connecticut. After the dissolution of her first marriage, she later married Army veteran and police officer, Louis J. Lombardy, and was a homemaker, residing in Plainfield, Connecticut. She also worked as a police dispatcher for the Plainfield Police Department for a number of years. She was a vivacious, fun-loving force of nature, whose joking antics, infectious laughter and smile would light up the room. She tended her vegetable garden in the summer, and taught her older grandchildren to swim. She loved dogs. She devised creative stories in solution to life’s problems, using humor to rationalize and explain the trials and tribulations of life. She loved to dance. Sadly, she developed dementia due to Alzheimer’s disease, and lived with her condition during the last 2 decades of her life. In recent years she was a resident at Colonial Health & Rehab in Plainfield, CT. Her family is grateful for the loving care she received while in residence. A Mass in celebration and in memory of Carol’s life will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 10:00am at St. John the Apostle Church, 10 Railroad Avenue, Plainfield, CT. Interment will be private. Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association or the ASPCA.
