Caroline's obituary

Caroline Coolidge Smith, born August 25th, 1978, passed away far too soon on May 12th, 2021 after a long standing battle with illness at the age of 42. She was, and always will be a source of beauty, and joy.

Our Caroline was a doting mother, gentle soul, and nurturing homemaker. Anyone fortunate enough to cross her path knew how eager she was to lend a helping hand, and share whatever resources she had with those in need. She had great empathy for the underdogs of society, and would stop at nothing to uplift a stranger with kind words. She valued authenticity more than most, and bore no qualms in telling you who she was, or how it was. She was a seeker of truth, and an eternal student; always learning, and asking questions. These qualities made her an incredible conversationalist, and listener. She didn’t fear the darker facets of human existence. Caroline was brave, and possessed emotional depth that made those around her feel safe, and understood. Her wit, intellect, and light-hearted cynicism are agreeably what will be missed the most amongst family, and friends. Her laughter, and hilarity elevated us all.

She is survived by many loved ones, including her 4 daughters; Maia Smith, Gabrielle Hutson-Pugliese, Alexandra Hutson-Pugliese, and Samantha Freeman. Her boyfriend; Nicolas Freeman. Her parents; Joanne McLaughlin, and Timothy Smith. Her brother, Joseph Smith, her sister, Christen Smith, her favorite cousin, Jay P. Ward, her aunt, Geralyn Pierce, and her beloved granddaughter, Honesty Cincotta, who inherited her grandmother’s captivating, ocean blue eyes.

What a blessing to be graced with Caroline, and all the vibrance she shared with us. She will be celebrated now, and forever more.
