Carolee (Wegmiller) McCardle, 90, passed away Thursday, January 30,2025 at her home in Stow, Ohio in the care of her family.

Carolee was born on May 1, 1934 to Lillian and Harold Wegmiller. She was a lifelong resident of the Stow, Silver Lake, Cuyahoga Falls area. She graduated from Stow High School and started a career dancing at local nightclubs and fairs. During this time she met the love of her life, Donald R. McCardle, who she was married to for 66 years. Together they opened McCardle’s Dance Studio in Cuyahoga Falls in 1962 which is still in business today.

Carolee was an amazing dancer, teacher, business woman, wife, mother and grandmother. She loved cooking, sewing, knitting, reading, her senior strollers, playing cards, and meeting up with friends. Her family was everything to her.

She is not only survived by her husband, Donald, but her 3 children, Jeff (Paula) McCardle, Mark (Amy) McCardle, and Colleen (Chris) Contillo, 5 grandchildren Erin (Jimmy) Roesch, Kari (Rico) McCardle-Gutierrez, Adam (Lindsay) McCardle, Matthew (Stephanie) Contillo, and Mya Contillo, and 3 Great grandchildren, Lucas, Jordan and Lucius.

The family would like to thank all the friends that have reached out over the past few months with meals, visits and prayers. Also, to Lauri Esposito for all her help and Cleveland Clinic Hospice for their care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cleveland Clinic Hospice of Akron or Ronald McDonald House of Akron.
