With profound sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Carole Cummings on March 14, 2025.  Born on September 20, 1944, she leaves behind a wealth of memories for all who knew her.  She was predeceased by her father, Harold Wade, her mother, Alvera Coute, her brother Donald Wade, her uncle Alvin Schnase (Uncle Sonny) and sister, Teri Huntley.
   A woman of diverse interests, Carole enjoyed reading and often found solace and joy in the world of books.  She loved attending the local dances while in Nebraska, where she not only enjoyed the music but also the enthusiastic spirit that mirrored her own zest for life.  She also had a competitive spirit which shone brightly in friendly games of Scrabble, a cherished pastime she often enjoyed with her late sister, Teri.
   Carole loved music, reading, dancing and spending time with family and friends; however, nothing brought her more joy than the road trips she took with her siblings and other family members. The countless hours spent traveling, exploring, and creating lasting memories will be fondly remembered by all who accompanied her on these journeys, commonly referred to as the "Dysfunctional Family Roadtrips."    Carole is survived by her four children and leaves behind a wonderful legacy in the form of them - Darren Reeves (Susan Reeves), Debbie Pollard, Dawn King (Doug King) and Dori Hicks (Eddie Hicks). Her love and teachings will be a guiding light for them. Besides her children, Carole's life continues to resonate in the heart of her dear sister Sue Berry, nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.  She was lovingly surrounded by her family till her last breath, a testament to the bond they all shared.
Carole's passing leaves a void that will not be easily filled.  Her passion for life, her vibrant energy, and her compassion for others are part of legacy she leaves behind.  We extend our condolences to all who knew and loved her. While we share in this time of loss, we also share in the love and memories that she brought into our lives.
   A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at the Wellington Clubhouse, located at 3927 Bournemouth Bend, Williamsburg, VA.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Judes or Shriners Children's Hospitals, charities she held dear to her heart.
