Carole's obituary
Carole Calvert, 63, passed away on August 17, 2025, in Tyler, Texas surrounded by family and friends. She was born on May 29, 1962, in McKinney, Texas, and spent the last 20 years of her life in Sulphur Springs. Before that, she called Quincy, Illinois, home for 16 years.
Carole lived life with an open heart and a joyful spirit. She found beauty in so many things like music, photography, travel and especially the natural world. Her love of horticulture filled her days with color, and her passion for animals, most especially her beloved horses Jake and Jackson and little dog Lina brought her endless happiness. She and her loving partner, Robert Fox, shared countless adventures together, often spending their free time enjoying cowboy action shooting. Her laughter was contagious, and she had a gift for turning ordinary moments into memories.
She is preceded in death by her loving father, John Wayne Calvert, and her brother and hero, Lynn Calvert. She is survived by her devoted partner, Robert Fox; her mother, Sarah Mounger and stepmother, Linda Calvert; her brother, Dale Hawkins (Kim); her sister-in-law Lisa Calvert; her daughters, Meghan Bailey (Jonathan) and Kellie Holtschlag; and her grandchildren, Ostin, Calvin and Quinn, who were the lights of her life. Also countless cousins, nieces, nephews and the families of Andy Houston (Faye), Malcolm Houston (Hayley), and Jonathan Moore.
Carole’s family will gather for a private memorial at a later date. A more public memorial for her friends, neighbors and her shooting community will also be shared at a later date.
She will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, her love of laughter, and the way she brought joy wherever she went.
In honor of her deep love for animals, donations may be made to the SPCA of Texas in lieu of flowers or cards.
