Carole's obituary

Carole Diane Baker (Gillman), age 79, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on March 26, 2025, in Parma, Michigan. Born on December 19, 1945, also in Parma, Carole remained deeply rooted in the community that shaped her life.

Carole dedicated over two decades of service to Western School District, working in food service where she became a familiar and friendly face to generations of students and staff. Her work was more than a job—it was a way for her to connect with others and bring warmth and nourishment to those around her.

She was known for her rowdy spirit, boisterous energy, and had an infectious booming laugh that could light up any room. Thoughtful and caring by nature, Carole had a way of making people feel seen and valued. Whether it was through a shared card game or a spontaneous road trip, she brought joy and laughter wherever she went.

Carole found great happiness in spending time with her family. She cherished camping trips under the stars, tending to her garden with care, taking moped rides through the countryside, and trying her luck at the casino. These simple pleasures reflected her adventurous heart and love for life’s little thrills.

She leaves behind a loving family who will carry forward her memory: daughters Teri; Kim (Rob); Dawn (Chris); son Chuck Jr. (Holly); grandchildren Steven; TJ (Kaylah); Misty (Josh); Bridgett (Tucker); Tyler; Kobe; great-grandchildren Kennedy; Orion; Lincoln; Miles; Vincent; and brother Kevin (Kelly) as well as several nieces and nephews.

Carole was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Rayola Gillman; siblings Harold Jr., Howard, Douglas, Patricia, and Karen; as well as Chuck Baker Sr.

A memorial service will be held in Springport, Michigan at a later date to honor Carole’s life and legacy. Details to come.

Her vibrant spirit lives on in the stories shared around kitchen tables, the laughter echoing from family gatherings, and the hearts of all who knew her. May her memory bring comfort to those who loved her.
