Carol Jean Wertz, 84 of Elwell was born on June 17, 1936 to Alden and Lula Ryan and passed away peacefully Thursday, September 24, 2020 with her family by her side. Carol married Ronald Wertz on April 22 1953. Carol and Ron shared 67 years of marriage, 7 children, 21 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Carol loved , crafting, cooking, and gardening, but her proudest accomplishment was being a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Carol loved adventure. In her earlier years, she and Ron rode motorcycles on the Jack Pine trails, did a lot of camping, and took many road trips, including a trip to Yellowstone National Park with their children. In later years Carol spent many winters in Golf Shores Alabama with her husband Ron.
Carol is survived by her husband Ron, her children: Linda (Joseph) Cowdrey, Michael (Melaine)Wertz, Beverly (Dale) Shankel, Kathryn (Donn) Brown, Sandra (David) Garcia, Suzanne (Arlin) Strong, David (Bridgett) Wertz, her sisters Pat and Elenore, and her may grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Carol was preceded in death by her parents Alden and Lula, her sister Marilyn, and daughter-in-law Ellen Wertz.
A private memorial service will be held by the family on Saturday, September 26. Condolences may be sent to:
