Carol Thompson, 81, passed away April 26, 2024, in Youngsville, NC with her children at her side. She was born in Crab Orchard, WV to Mary and James C. Thompson.

Carol loved people, teaching and she loved the Lord. She dedicated 44 years to teaching PE and biology until discovering a passion for special education. She cherished engaging with kids and witnessing the "light bulb" moments that helped them succeed in the world.

In retirement, Carol found joy in serving those in need at the Good Shepherd in Wilmington and at the food bank at First Baptist Church of Leland.

Carol is a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and West Virginia University.

Carol is survived by her brother, Eugene Thompson, her son Michael Thompson and his wife Michelle, and her daughter Kristin Mason. She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Olivia Thompson, Evan Thompson and his wife Liz, and her beloved nephews Eric and Mark Thompson.

A memorial service will be held for Carol at First Baptist Church of Leland on May 19th at 2 pm.

Carol will be dearly missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of love and dedication to others will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
