Our community sadly lost a pillar on Wednesday, October 27th, 2021, when Carol Rose Porterfield, favorably known as Miss Carol, passed away. Her contributions to the lives of many include raising a total of 13 children, teaching Sunday School, and playing the role of a second mother to many children within the community.

Carol is survived by the loving community of New Castle, her children; Tammy Minnick, Sheila Mike, Ronald Porterfield, Kayle D’Ambrosi, and Brandee D’Ambrosi, along with her sister, Marlene DeCristoforo, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Those she met in Heaven include her parents; Sarah Alice August and Harold Walters, her brothers and sister; Harold “Pete” Walters, Daniel Walters, and Debbie Walters-Sosinski, and her three children; Richard Neely, Tina Garbes, and Allison Porterfield.

She will be remembered as the selfless nurturing woman that she devoted her life to being. Her legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone she interacted with as well as those who she reached but never met.
