Carol's obituary

Carol Ann Perea, Devoted Mother with a Romantic Heart, Dies at 73

Carol Ann Perea (née Voto), whose gentle spirit, boundless affection, and knack for lifting others made her beloved by family, friends, and co-workers alike, died in the early hours of May 10. She was 73.

Her final days were spent in the loving care of her niece, Lisa, who helped guide her through the last phase of her life with the grace and kindness she had so generously offered others throughout her own. For more than twelve years prior, she lived her eldest son, Chad, and his family—just one of the many ways Carol’s life was quietly, consistently marked by acts of love and sacrifice.

Born on May 23, 1951, in Erie, Pa., Carol was the second child of Albert and Grace Voto. From a young age, she radiated warmth and joy, a disposition that would define her throughout her life. She adored her parents, and in their later years, she became their steadfast caregiver—devoted, attentive, and always present.

Carol was a romantic at heart. She believed being loved was life’s greatest gift, and she gave that gift freely to others. She was madly in love with Elvis Presley and never missed a chance to sing along—especially in the car—with the same exuberance that made her a joyful dancer and someone who delighted in getting dressed up and going out. She loved pop music, babies with chunky legs, and giving presents to the people she cared about.

A dedicated worker and a cherished colleague, Carol brought light and laughter to every job she held, including her final role at TJ Maxx, where her co-workers became her friends. She had a unique way of making people feel seen and valued. She gave the best hugs, shared her love openly, and worried about others more than herself. Her sentimental nature meant that cards, notes, and keepsakes were never discarded—she held on to every gift and memento like it was treasure.

Carol was the mother of two sons, Chad and Joshua, whom she loved unconditionally, and the proud grandmother of four: Ian, Rhiannon, Paloma, and Elias. Her presence in their lives was a steady source of encouragement, affection, and joy.

In addition to her sons and grandchildren, Carol is survived by her sister, Diane, brothers Albert and Michael, nieces Lisa, Amy, Emily, Hannah Eloise and Willa, nephews AJ, Justin, Chris and Nick, as well as many friends who were touched by her kindness, humor, and enduring love.

She will be remembered as someone who gave her heart easily and entirely—and made those around her feel lucky to be loved by her.

A private family gathering will be held to honor her life.
