Carol Sue Moritz (Wines)
Died at 81, surrounded by family in Tucson, Arizona on July 13, 2024. Carol was born June 19, 1943, in Albuquerque, New Mexico and was raised by Bertha and James Wines.
Carol grew up in Albuquerque and graduated from Highland High School in 1961. She attended University of Northern Colorado studying Special Education and graduated in 1965. In 1967 Carol moved to Tucson, Arizona and began her career with the Flowing Wells School District as a teacher, counselor, observer and evaluator until she retired in 1995.
Over the course of her life, Carol was an accomplished athlete in several different sports, participated in many clubs and played piano. Carol found immense joy in spending time with her family including her eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Carol enjoyed travel, time in the mountains and forest, knitting and scrapbooking. Carol was also a gifted writer.
Carol was dedicated to her Alcoholics Anonymous family and happily lived a sober life for forty-four years. She formed many lasting friendships throughout her life and was beloved by many.
Carol is survived by her son, Dan Mills (Rikki) of Chandler; her daughter, Lara Mills-Knuth (Bill) of Glendale; her daughter, Jamie Brady (James) of Tucson: her stepson, Dan Moritz (Alessandra) of Tucson; daughter Donna Edwards (Graham) of Manchester England, and her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Carol was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, John Moritz.
A celebration of Carol’s life will be held November 2, 2024, in Tucson.
