Carol's obituary

Carol (Duguay) Knapp completed her journey in life and returned home on November 7, 2019. She was born on April 20, 1953 to Duke and Emma Duguay. She attended St John School and Mercy High School in Middletown, CT. In 1970 while working in a diner a young police officer came in for lunch and she immediately knew that she had found her one true love. She married David Knapp in 1971 and spent the next 48 years with her best friend.

Carol loved to travel and talking with people, she fueled her passion by working for American Airlines for over 30 years. She loved to bake and showed her appreciation to others with gifts of her famous cheesecakes. The sound of ocean waves brought peace to her heart and the glow and warmth of sunshine while in her garden brought her joy to her soul. She loved her time spent in the Maine woods up at camp with her children and sitting on the back porch overlooking Bald Mountain while playing cards with her husband.

After retirement Carol volunteered her time to Habitat for Humanity and the Red Cross of Florida. She also dedicated many hours of her time to the 8th Maine Regiment on Peaks Island and was the chair of the scholarship committee.

She is survived by her loving husband David of Durham, CT and Barefoot Bay, FL; her daughter Lisa and son-in-law Dave Wilson of East Hampton, CT; her daughter Sarah and her son-in-law Brad Palumbo, two grandchildren Adrian and Mia, and granddog Rusty of Chandler, AZ; and her son David Knapp of Middletown, CT; her brothers Albert Duguay and wife Patty of Middletown, CT and Joseph Duguay and wife Gretchen of Middletown, CT; her uncle Joseph Marcati of Rocky Hill, CT and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Carol was predeceased by her parents Duke and Emma Duguay.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and support staff of the Cancer Center of America in Arizona for their care, compassion and tireless support with helping Carol complete her life’s journey.

For those who wish, in lieu of flowers, Carol would appreciate donations to please be made to Mercy High School Alumni Association in Middletown, CT in her memory to provide scholarships to young women.
