Carol's obituary

Carol J. Walker, 82, of Yorkville, passed away peacefully on December 10th, 2024. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother, and friend who touched the lives of many with her giving spirit and unwavering support.

Carol was born on May 11th, 1942, in Aurora, IL to Harold and Marie Patterson. She lived a full life devoted to her family and friends. Above all, she found the greatest joy in cheering on her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in all their endeavors, always ready with a smile, a word of encouragement, and a heart full of pride. Her presence at their sports games and activities was a testament to her love for them and her deep commitment to family.

After retiring from AT&T, Carol remained very active working part time, volunteering at the Paramount and enjoying her many passions. Her love of travel took her all over the U.S. and to many countries overseas with both family and close friends. Carol made lifelong friends spending her days playing bunco, golfing, line dancing and attending fitness classes at Club 47. Carol believed in the importance of taking care of herself, and was an inspiration to others. She shared her love of crocheting by teaching others and blessing friends and family with her beautiful creations.

Carol was known for her fiery spirit, generosity, and the unconditional love she gave to everyone in her life. She will be remembered not only for her commitment to her family but also for her quick wit, her love of football, especially the Packers, pumpkin torte recipe, and the many memories she created with her loved ones.

Carol is survived by her children, David (Teresa) Walker, Ronald (Sue) Walker, Deborah (Don) Centell, and Terry Walker, her grandchildren Jason (Joy) Walker, Jen (Mike) Bruell, Jonah (Maggie) Walker, Corey (Rachel) Boone, Ashley (Brett) Johnson, Amanda (Jim) Hopkins, Kirsten (Alex) Balog, Taylor Centell, Sydney (Keegan) Robilotta, Cory (Amanda) Walker, Jake (Nikki) Walker, who blessed her with 30 great-grandchildren, and two great, great-grandchildren. Carol is also survived by her brother, James Patterson, former daughters in law Kara and Bonnie, and several nieces and nephews. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Marie Patterson, her sister and brother-in-law Patricia and Larry Darling, her brother Charles Patterson and her daughter-in-law Debbie Walker. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

A private burial will be held at Mt Olivet Cemetery at 11. To honor Carol, friends and family are invited to join in a celebration of life to be held at noon on April 11, 2025, at Whitetail Ridge Golf Club in Yorkville, and a luncheon to follow.

Carol’s legacy of love, laughter, and dedication to family will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
