Carol's obituary

Carol Ann de Neveu, passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at the age of 88.

Carol was born on March 23, 1937, to William Bond and Dorothy (Mountain), and was raised by her mother and stepfather, Warren Mountain, a WWII veteran, alongside her younger sisters Kathleen and Susan.

As a young woman living in San Francisco, she met a sailor named Darell de Neveu. They married on June 9, 1956, beginning a love story that lasted nearly 70 years.

Carol and Darell raised three children: Daniel, Diana, and Douglas. Family was at the center of her life, and she was Nana to seven grandchildren—Ann, Daniel, Jillian, David, Marissa, Jessica, and Adam—and to eleven great-grandchildren.

Carol was bold, independent, and ahead of her time. She opened and ran a boutique clothing store in Murphys, California, at a time when women entrepreneurs were rare. Later, she built a respected career as a paralegal for Jim Gianelli until retirement. She had a sharp mind, a progressive spirit, and the confidence to stand her ground.

She also had a deep love for plants, especially her bonsai, which she tended for decades. Her floral arrangements brought home ribbons from county fairs, a quiet reflection of her creative eye and attention to detail.

Carol will be remembered for her strength, her independence, and the way she lived life on her own terms. Her family will proudly carry her bold spirit forward.

She is survived by her husband, Darell; her sons, Daniel (& spouse Sharon) and Douglas; her grandchildren Ann, Jillian, David, Marissa, Jessica, and Adam; her great-grandchildren; her beloved sisters Kathleen and Susan, and her nieces.
