Carol Lucas Custer, 73, of Collegeville, PA, passed away on March 5, 2022 after a short, but hard-fought battle with lung cancer. Carol was born on December 18, 1948 to William and Ruth (Foley) Lucas in Patterson, NJ. After graduating from Walt Whitman High School (Bethesda, MD) in 1966, she went on to study chemistry and then philosophy/religion at Ursinus College. While in college, she met Steven Custer, and they wed in 1969, going on to have 2 children, Keith A. Custer, and Tracy (Custer) Slonaker. After having her children, Carol stayed home to care for the kids until they were both in school. At that point, she began working across the street from her house in Oaks, PA at Air Oil Systems, where she worked many years as an office manager. 

Throughout her life, she enjoyed reading mystery novels, doing puzzles of many kinds, listening to jazz and classic rock music, and watching Jeopardy. She also enjoyed traveling (especially to New Orleans), bird watching, doing yoga, and creating her own greeting cards. Carol was also a passionate volunteer at Pennypacker Mills. We will miss her greatly.

Carol was predeceased by her parents, William and Ruth Lucas. She is survived by her sister, Nancy C. Lucas, her husband, Steven B. Custer, her children: son Keith A. Custer, and daughter Tracy (Custer) Slonaker, and grandchildren: Conor S. Custer, Kelsey E. Custer, Hannah J. Slonaker, Christian J. Slonaker, and Audrey J. Slonaker. Carol requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to either the ASPCA, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, or JDRF.
