Carol's obituary
Carol Anne Chambers (Kervin) passed away peacefully on April 12, 2026, surrounded by her family after a long, courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was 88 years old.
Carol was born on February 7, 1938, in Moncton, New Brunswick, the oldest daughter of Harry and Greta Kervin. She was predeceased by her beloved brothers, Paul and Ken Kervin.
A dedicated and compassionate nurse, Carol graduated from Saint John General Hospital Nursing School and began her career in Canada before continuing her work in the United States at Augusta General Hospital in Augusta, Maine, where she specialized in mental health. She brought empathy, patience, and genuine care to every patient she served.
While in nursing school, Carol met the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Chambers. They were married and shared 60 wonderful years together before Bob’s passing in 2021. In 1960, they made their home in Portland, Maine, later becoming deeply rooted in the Augusta community, where Carol remained active and engaged for many years. In retirement, she and Bob enjoyed time in Naples, Florida. Carol was an active member of the Green Street Methodist Church in Augusta and the North Naples Methodist Church in Naples, FL.
Carol found great joy in life’s simple pleasures - being a great Mother, playing tennis, traveling, and spending cherished time with friends and family. Her greatest happiness came from being “Nana” to her four granddaughters, whom she adored.
Carol will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and gentle spirit. She was a thoughtful friend, a devoted wife and mother, and a loving “Nana”. Those who cared for her in her later years described her as funny, kind, engaging, and full of grace.
Her legacy is one of compassion, resilience, and deep love for others. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.
Carol is survived by her children, David Chambers and Wendy Chambers Brown, her son-in-law, Win Brown, and her four granddaughters, Evelyn, Kathryn, Grace, and Anya.
A celebration of life will be held in N.B. Canada in the future. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Alzheimer's Association www.alz.org
