It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Carol A. Catalano, 68 (née Hunkele -McCabe) of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. (formally New Jersey)  She passed away peacefully on Saturday December 21, 2024.

She was born in Hackensack, NJ to Eleanor & Clarence Hunkele. Moved to Belleville where she spent her childhood years enjoying dancing school and singing in the choir. She graduated from Belleville Senior High School in 1974.  Carol spent many years working as a  secretary, her favorite job was working for the Archdiocese of Newark,  before she moved to Florida.

Carol is survived by her husband & best friend, Robert Catalano. Her two daughters; Shannon Alfano, (John Alfano) along with grandchildren, Anthony Jr. & Ryan Chapman; Jennifer Krauland, (Richard Krauland Sr.) and three grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara Dacey, who stood with her in both times of joy and sorrow as well as her Brother-In-Law, Jack. Carol also was a cherished aunt to her niece; God daughter Robyn Nutter (Jim Nutter); Niece Jennifer Maggiore-Ouellette (Corbiey Ouellette).  Treasured great aunt to her niece & nephews. Her cousins and friends will remember her vibrant smile and contagious laughter. 

She was predeceased by her father, Clarence and her mother, Eleanor, along with Nephew, Mark Maggiore, who undoubtedly welcomed her with open arms.

A memorial mass will be held on Saturday February 1, 2025 at 3:30pm.
