Carol's obituary
Carol had an enormous amount of pride in her siblings. David Bailey of Tightwad, MO. A Circuit Court Judge and Rancher. Bill Bailey of Belton, MO a Master Carpenter and Norma (Bailey) Cowdrick, of whythehelldoyouliveindangerous Mid-Town Kansas City, ("if she stays down there, I'm going to need an increase in Xanex) an accomplished Artist and Art Instructor.
Carol graduated from Ruskin High School in 1963. She was married to Charles McGuire in 1964 for three years, in what can only be described as a three ring circus. The Engagement ring, the wedding ring and the suffering. The blessing of this union having been her first beloved daughter, Kimberly McGuire.
In 1967, Carol wed Joseph A Ryan formerly of Dawson, NE. Of this union were born two daughters, Mickie Jo (Ryan) Smith and Annette Colleen Hodges and a son Thomas Michael that preceded her in death at his birth.
Carol was always ready to share with prospective friends in the Dr's waiting room, the checkout line at the store, or anyone who might wander into her room, her beloved photos and stories of all of her children.
Famously kind hearted, talkative and willing to give you the shirt off her own back, or anything else you might need, without complaint.
A lady that was an example of "true grit" and proved it time and time again. Am amazing patient that never gave complaint.
She handed these qualities down, especially to her granddaughter Josie. Josie's greatest wish and statement to her as she was leaving this world was that, "I wish you could see yourself from my eyes how beautiful you are"
Carol had enormous love and admiration of her dear niece, Tammy Bailey and her most loving nephew, Billy Bailey and their children.
No buildings named after her, no monuments erected in her honor, no illustrious career to brag about.
Her focus was about what was most important.
Family. People. Individuals.
She spent many years giving to and loving people in the last years of their lives in various nursing and private homes. She comforted families and brought them peace and tranquility, holding their hands and their hearts as they passed from this world to the next.
She died knowing that Gunsmoke was the best TV show. EVER.
Elvis Presley, the single best recording artist of all time.
That no man could ever live up to her big brothers and that at 74 yrs old, she could still turn the heads of every older gentleman that passed by her.
She was thankful to leave this world surrounded by love and family in the arms of her daughter and her granddaughters voice whispering love into her ear on May 30th, 2019.
Instead of flowers, Carol would hope that you would do an unexpected and unsolicited kindness in her name to someone confined to a nursing home.
As joyful as her family is that she is safely in arms of Jesus and dancing at the wedding feast of the Lamb, she will be missed as a mother, friend, sister and G'Mother.
Please celebrate her life with us at St James Catholic Church, Liberty MO at 10am on Saturday June 8th, 2019.
Anyone wearing black will not be admitted. She is not dead. She is finally alive!
