Carmine's obituary

Carmine A. Galasso, 93, was born on August 26, 1925 in Waterbury, Connecticut. In September of 1943, Carmine joined the United States Army and honorably served his country as Private First Class during WWII. In January of 1944, he was stationed overseas in England as part of the 5th Armored Division. While on leave from the Army in 1945, he met his future wife Anna. Carmine was sent back to Army camp before being honorably discharged in November of 1945. Carmine and Anna were married in 1947. During their marriage they had eight children. Carmine eventually moved his family from Waterbury in 1960 to California where they settled in Fontana.

Carmine worked as a pressman early on in his career in Connecticut and California. Later on he went to work as a salesman for Levitz Furniture until his retirement. But most importantly, his greatest accomplishment was his family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

Carmine is preceded in death by his wife Anna, his 4th son Bruce, his parents Angelo and Vita, and his siblings Joseph, Vita, Maria, Leonard, Francis, Vito, and Catherine.

He is remembered with love by his sister Marguerite, his sons and daughters, Leonard (wife, Erlinda), Michael (wife, Jerry and ex-wife Ronda Steffen), Kenneth (wife, Debra), (wife of Bruce, Valerie), Rebecca (husband, Ron) Gilbert, Claudia (husband, Alan) Smith, Heidi (husband, Mark) Smith, William (wife, Star), 18 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

A funeral mass will be held at St. George’s Roman Catholic Church, 17895 San Bernardino Avenue, Fontana on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at 10am. A military service will immediately follow at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Boulevard, Riverside, where the urns of both Carmine and Anna will be placed into the memorial wall for their final resting place together.
