Carmen's obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carmen "Carl, Lil Bear" Romano, who left us on April 17, 2023. Born on October 16, 1949.
Carmen is predeceased by his father Frank L. Romano Sr., Mother Lucy (DeTulio) Romano, and wife Cheryl St John Romano. He is survived by his sister Maryann Romano, brother Frank Romano, sister-in-law Sallie Romano, nieces Darlene Mihalakos and Alyssa Romano, and great nieces Ana and Sophia Mihalakos.
After graduating from the American School for the Deaf (ASD) in West Hartford, CT in 1969, Carmen continued his education at the Technical Vocational Institute in Minnesota, where he graduated in 1971. In 1972, Carmen served the US Postal Service, where he remained until his retirement in 2002.
Carmen was an avid enthusiast of Old Western and Native American Art. He enjoyed hunting, woodcarving, and collecting Native American artifacts. He generously donated his woodcarving totem pole to Camp Isola Bella in Salisbury, CT. Carmen's favorite vacation spots include Alaska and Native-American reservations. His favorite local spot was Bisbee and the White Tank Mountain in the desert.
Carmen's proudest accomplishments include serving as captain of the ASD football team and he was a wrestler on the ASD wrestling team. His dedication, spirit, and love for his hobbies and family will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
