Carmen's obituary
Surrounded by the family she loved with all her heart, Carmen Nuris Quiñones passed away on December 20, 2025, at the age of 56. She was born in 1969 in New York City, New York, to Damaris Mignolia Quiñones and the late Hector Manuel Quiñones. Carmen is survived by her two sons, Francisco Enrique Capellan (Kiko) and Francisco Jose Capellan (Bebo). Carmen is also survived by her mother, Damaris Mignolia Quiñones, her brother, Hector M. Quiñones, and her partner, Naser Sufan.
From a young age, Carmen carried with her a deep sense of family, resilience, and compassion—qualities that would define her life and leave a lasting impact on everyone who knew her. Carmen made both Santo Domingo and Tampa, Florida her beloved homes for more than four decades. In each place, she built strong roots grounded in love, hard work, and service to others. No matter where she lived, Carmen created a sense of home—one filled with warmth, laughter, music, and open arms for anyone who needed comfort or support.
Above all else, Carmen was a devoted and selfless mother. She was the heart and guiding force behind her two sons. Carmen was their rock, their protector, and their biggest supporter. She never hesitated to sacrifice her own needs to ensure her children had everything they needed to grow, dream, and succeed. Through perseverance, unconditional love, and unwavering strength, she raised two young men who will forever carry her lessons, values, and love with them. To her sons, she was not only a mother but a constant source of inspiration and courage—the woman who opened doors for them and prepared them to face the world with confidence and integrity.
To know Carmen was to love her. Those who had the pleasure of meeting her were instantly drawn to her warm, welcoming personality and her genuine kindness. She had an incredible ability to make people feel seen, valued, and understood. Many described her as “a light in a dark room,” someone whose presence alone could lift spirits and bring comfort. Carmen consistently put others before herself, offering her help, her time, and her heart without hesitation, always accompanied by her contagious laughter and beautiful smile.
Her strength was undeniable, yet Carmen carried it with humility and grace. She never sought attention or praise for the challenges she overcame or the burdens she carried. Instead, she quietly pushed forward, choosing kindness, patience, and love even in the face of adversity. She was a woman of remarkable resilience—strong not because she demanded recognition, but because she endured, persevered, and loved deeply.
Carmen lived a life marked by challenges, yet she continuously rose above them, surpassing expectations placed upon her and those she set for herself. She became a pioneer in call center support systems in the Dominican Republic, where she spent most of her life. Carmen took great pride in her work and was deeply passionate about the people she worked with. To her, colleagues became family, and the workplace became another space where her leadership, compassion, and dedication shined.
Music was another source of joy in Carmen’s life. She loved listening to it, dancing to it, and feeling the rhythm move through her soul. Music filled her home and her heart, often serving as a backdrop to moments of laughter, celebration, and togetherness.
Carmen was also a devoted sports fan, especially when it came to her sons. Whatever team they played for, she was there—cheering, supporting, and encouraging. Other parents lovingly referred to her as “the team mom,” as she never hesitated to help any child on the team, not just her own. She embodied generosity and community, always offering a helping hand, words of encouragement, or simply her presence. She was often the first to arrive at games and the last to leave, a constant and comforting figure whose dedication never wavered.
Beyond her roles as a mother, professional, and supporter, Carmen was known for her love of cooking and sharing meals with family and friends. Her kitchen was a place of connection—a space where love was expressed through food, conversation, and togetherness. Every meal she prepared carried her care, generosity, and desire to bring people closer.
Carmen Quiñones leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and selflessness. Her life was a testament to the power of perseverance, compassion, and unconditional love. Though she is no longer physically with us, her spirit lives on through her sons, her family, and all those whose lives she touched. She will be deeply missed, forever cherished, and always remembered as a loving mother, a loyal friend, a strong woman, and a beautiful soul.
