I met Carmen in 2013 when I went to visit Rosie in NYC. I felt right at home with Carmen, her views and passion about life was energizing and positive. What made me love her is how much she loved Rosie and how cariñosa she was to everyone she talked to.  I felt seen by her and felt her motherly vibes bringing that comfort and warm feeling that only one gets when thinking of happy moments with family back at home.  When I left NYC, I not only had a great time, bit I also left with a new family member whom I lovingly called her Mami Carmen.

She  kept in touch through the years with me in social media. We both loved politics and shared our disdain for Trump and all his minions. She would always worry about me during hurricanes whe I lived in Florida, not a year passed where she didn’t send me a message for my birthday or Christmas. I will always appreciate her warmth, love and love for others and for life. 

She was a great human being, and she will be missed so much. We need more people like her in the world. I hope one day I will give her a big hug and see her smile again. 

My condolences to The Matos Family and especially to my long time friend Rosie. I wish I was there for you to support you through this. Know that I love you and I pray for her to rest in peace and go to heaven.

Saber que no estarás físicamente me produce un inmenso dolor. Me consuela tu  presencia en mi vida y todo lo que significaste en ella.
