Carlton's obituary

Carlton B. Gardner, II, 73 passed away peacefully on July 11, 2024. Carlton was born on October 8, 1950, to the Late Elizabeth “Betty” (Strothers) Gardner and the Late Carlton B. “Sonny” Gardner, Sr.

Carlton resided in Providence, Rhode Island for most of his life before moving to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and later back to RI. Carlton had many strengths in his lifetime. First and foremost was God. He loved the Lord, even talked about joining the ministry later in life. Carlton doted on his children and grandchildren at every chance he could and always wanted them to stay in touch with each other and him. He enjoyed fishing and bowling. He enjoyed being witty and cracking jokes with his family and friends.

All those that knew and loved him, also knew him as “Red Fox, Jr” for his CB radio. Another passion of his was his love of electronics. He always rode in the best vehicles and had the best sound systems. His family and friends have many memories of talking, laughing and having a good time with Carlton over the years. He will be sorely missed.

Those who are left to cherish his memories are his wife, Cathy Gardner; nine children, Carlton Gardner (Columbus, OH), Priscilla Johnson (Columbus, OH), Anthony Gardner (Pawtucket, RI), Rose Berry (Florida City, FL), Carlton B. Gardner, III (Pittsburgh, PA), Joseph A. Gardner (Cranston, RI), Sonya L. James (Tyree James of Pittsburgh, PA) , Roselynn Charon (Pawtucket, RI); He also leaves grandchildren and great grandchildren, 2 siblings Raymond Ellis (Toccoa, GA) and one sister, Joan “Tina” Almeida (Pawtucket, RI) as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Paul E. Gardner, and Jerry Ellis and son, Buddy Gardner. Although Carlton is no longer with us, his light will forever shine on through those who loved him.

Memorial service will be held later. In honor of Carlton’s love for the ministry, please make donations to Semper Fi Missions, P.O. Box 101251, Pittsburgh, PA 15237.
