Carlos's obituary

Carlos Munoz Hernandez passed away on April 11, 2026 in San Antonio, Texas. Carlos was born in San Diego, California on February 10, 1957 to the late Carlos Cruz Hernandez and Socorro Munoz Zarazua. He graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School in San Antonio, Texas and enlisted in the United States Navy where he served over 3.5 years at sea on numerous aircraft carriers in support of Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He retired in 1998 after 20 years of service and was a proud veteran who served his country with honor. After retirement, Carlos settled in Virginia Beach, VA where he was a member of the Virginia Beach Bluewater Fishing Club and enjoyed his long bike rides and walks along the beach.

Carlos moved back to San Antonio in 2024 and enjoyed spending time with family at barbecues, fishing with his brother Tony, and sharing stories from his time in the Navy. He is predeceased by his parents, sister Rosemary Gonzalez, brother Jose Luis Hernandez, and Step Father Alvino R. Zarazua. He is survived by his siblings David Mendoza (Toni), Mariana H. Sutherland (Scotty), Tony M. Hernandez (Yvonne), Linda Gonzalez (Victor), Alvin Zarazua (Erika), and Albert Zarazua (Traci), and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed.

A rosary will be held on Monday, April 27th at 9:30 am followed by a Catholic funeral mass at 10am at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Following services, Carlos will be buried at sea by the U.S. Navy per his lifelong wishes.
