Our deepest sympathies go out to the family and friends of our beloved Carlos Guzman. He was truly one of a kind…so full of life, optimism, determination, generosity and honor.
Carlos came to Kiewit in early 2017 to join the Birdsboro team. Since then, he's worked on Naheola, G3, Huntington Beach, Alamitos, Hill Top, Long Ridge, Blue Water, Seminole, Prairie State and most recently Calcasieu. We know to simply say he's contributed to our success would be an understatement. From day one Carlos has shown a strong will to succeed, a drive to accept challenges, a profound generosity, and the character to remain positive through it all.
Carlos, have confidence and take pride in knowing that you have fully completed your work. You've done what we've asked and so much more. You inspire us, and we are better because of you.
Your projects thank you. Your department thanks you. Kiewit thanks you.
Thank you Carlos, we’ll remember you always.

I had the privilege of getting to know Carlos during his leave of absence. During a few of our conversations, he shared personal stories and even "taught" me how to make some of his favorite Mexican foods. When I think of our conversations, his kindness, positive outlook, and determination are what I remember most.

Although I’ve only been blessed to call Carlos a friend for a few years, he’s one of the people you feel like you’ve known for a lifetime. A beautiful soul with a contagious smile. Fly high, my friend. Love and prayers to your family. <3

Carlos was one of a kind gentle and strong at the same time. He always had a smile on his face and a great attitude to go along with it. I worked with him at Kiewit at the time when I started working with the Kiewit Mexico team. We offered Spanish classes to the team working with Mexico. Carlos was a huge help in the class and became many of our study buddies. He will certainly be missed by all of us who knew and loved him.

I worked with Carlos at Kiewit in Lenexa off and on while he was here. The quality that shined the most in Carlos was his attitude. I don't think I ever remember seeing him frustrated, annoyed, or exasperated in any way. He always had great patience and was a very kind man. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know him as we worked together.

One of my favorite clients of all time. Polite and patient. Engaging and honest. The perfect guy you want sitting in your chair, because the conversation undoubtedly would be stellar. We shared the wonder of fossils, stones and gems. I recently found a really sweet fossil and all I want to do is show it to him. He would love it.
All these beautiful ancient things just laying on the ground. Until that right person comes along and sees that it’s special.

Used to serve Carlos over at Brewbakers. Was thee nicest and most respectable customer I’d ever met. We ended up seeing each other at local bars around town a couple of times and grew a pretty good relationship. Talked about his service in the military, our motorcycles at the time, politics etc. and he was such a good guy. I wish I could’ve done more life with him. Ill never forget him.

Remember when I got the C word in 20, Carlos? You sent me these, and this...and you were hurting so badly...yet you wanted me to know you were there...I am so sorry we lost you. What a blessing you were/ARE...even my Kids are teary eyed. The world lost a good one. One of the few. You’re lucky, God, but we’ll see him soon. I love you Guzman.
