Carlos's obituary
Carlos Martinez Gonzales, 68, passed away unexpectedly on January 12, 2022. He was in the middle of a move from McGregor, TX to Kentucky for a new job opportunity, but passed away in Cincinnati, OH.
Carlos was born in Santa Rita, NM to Guillermo P Gonzales and Carmen Martinez. He was the baby amongst his siblings: Luz, Angela, Guillermo, Raul, Anita, Estella and Patricio.
After high school, he left his hometown to join the military. In the Air Force, he was stationed at Clark AFB in the Philippines where he met and fell in love with Lita Maceda. He married her on Dec 20, 1975. They spent their life traveling the globe.
Carlos was stationed in Davis Monthan Base in Tucson, AZ where their first daughter, Valerie Lynn, was born. Shortly afterwards, they moved to England where he was stationed in Lakenheath AFB. There they were blessed with their first son, Nathaniel Ivan. Carlos was honorably discharged from the Air Force soon after, so they made their way back to Tucson, where Charles Andrew was born. He took on a few aircraft contract jobs from there, and landed with Continental Airlines in 1987. Continental had him head up their Maintenance Control Center on Guam, until 2001. It was there that their daughter Amanda Lynn was born. A business venture had the family spend a year in Saipan, where William Bryan was born.
Carlos retired from Continental when they merged with United Airlines in 2010. He spent several years working for various airlines in NY, San Francisco, and Seattle - following his passion for airplanes.
Carlos is survived by his wife Lita Gonzales, daughter Valerie, son Nathaniel, son Charles, daughter Amanda, and son William. He is preceded in passing by his father Guillermo, mother Carmen, sister Angela, brother Guillermo, and sister Estella.
