Carlodia's obituary
Carlodia "Timberwolf" Dixon (Jeffrey)
Walked on in Spirit to her Creator & Saviour, December 29, 2024 at age 84.
Carlodia was born to the late Theresa (Whitney) and Joseph Jeffrey on September 15, 1940, feet first. She gifted the world a legacy of strength, devotion to faith, story-telling, cultural knowledge, and love. Carlodia was an enrolled member of the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin from the Thunderbird & Golden Eagle clans. She was proud of her Sicilian heritage and was an encyclopedia of family history.
Carlodia led a full life with a warrior's spirit and was great grand-daughter of Chief Waukechon. She had two children, 6 grand-children, and 5 great-grandchildren.
Carlodia grew up on the Menominee reservation, living in the cabin her father built during the Great Depression, as her mother's right hand girl. She treasured the memories of growing up with her cherished sisters near the Wolf River in Keshena and in the Milwaukee area- before moving to Oakland, CA in the 1970s.
Carlodia was the definition of resilience and fortitude, a favorite saying of hers was "I am a rock and I will not break." She was fiercly independent but family and faith was what filled her heart. To her, life was a schoolroom to learn and her real home was in heaven. She was proud of the hard work she completed in life, working over 40 jobs, often being a caretaker of people and animals. She dearly loved animals and worked as a zoo-keeper, caring for the gorillas and big cats. She wrote over 140 short stories about animals and had a pet parakeet named Chicken Don. She positively impacted many lives as an active member of the Intertribal Friendship House, becoming family, friend, nurse, and helper to whomever needed her. Everyday she prayed for her family and friends, with humility and love.
She is survived by her sister Theresa Stahl, daughter Violet Claesson, Grandchildren- Cassandra Howe, Scott Turner, Anthony Jeffrey, Crystal, Catherine, & Calvin Claesson. Great-grandchildren- Caitlynn & Hunter Claesson, Theodore Coffman, Joan & Genevieve Howe, nieces Delores Wrathall, Terri-Ann Pike, Ronda Skenandore & many loved extended family members.
She is preceded in death by her grandmother- Maggie Whitney (Waukechon), her mother-Theresa Jeffrey (Whitney), her father-Joseph "Guiffre" Jeffrey, her sisters- Genevieve "Jenny" Montez, Sara C. Mann, Carol Skenandore, her beloved son, Christopher Jeffrey, and her best friend Eva Martinez.
She will forever be honored in our hearts and memories.
Our family extends its gratitude to the Intertribal Friendship House and the Native American Health Center for being her supportive community in Oakland, CA.
