That was a sweet meet-cute Doug! Carla was a wonderful person so I know you will have many fond memories. I hope they will help you & your family now. We will miss dear Carla. Thinking of you & sending deepest sympathies. Paul & Laura La Fleur
I was so saddened to hear that Carla passed away. Carla was a dear friend and faithful employee for many years. I had the privilege to be her collegue, supervisor and friend while working a the library. It was very easy to see how important Carla's family was to her. She included them is most activities. I will always remember her joy when her son Nick stopped at the South Side Library to say hello. Doug and Carla became my friends through the years. I was so happy to hear that she was able to enjoy seeing her kids married and hope much happiness her grand children brought to her. Our deepest sympathy. Nyla and Sam
I am so saddened by Carla’s passing. I was a senior at Drake when she was born and was one of her Godparents at her baptism at Trinity Lutheran. When I left Iowa I mostly lost contact with her, but in recent years have had many pleasant times with Doug and Carla. Carla was a very special person who was bright, gentle and kind. She will be remembered for all the good things she has done in this world. I particularly enjoyed the reception at her house after Alma’s funeral, the largest gathering of the family I can remember. She will be missed.

Carla will be missed. The visit my wife Elizabeth and I had with Carla and Doug in Des Moines a few years ago after RAGBRAI was very special and we still remember it fondly. Lyle Lilie

There once was a girl who bought a couple of records from me at a record show. Then I saw her again on a record run (a few my friends and I made trips to Omaha or K.C. to buy records at old record stores). Maybe a month later I was having a little argument with a guy running a game in State Fair midway, and I happen to turn around and there she was again, waving at me. Well, we spent the rest of that day together and then we spent most of the next 38 years together. That was the happiest moment and 38 years anyone could ever have had.
