Carla's obituary
It is with extremely heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carla Coons, a beloved mother and grandmother, who peacefully departed this life on September 8th, 2024, at the age of 70.
Carla was a hardworking and selfless woman who dedicated her life to the well-being of her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and devotion. Her greatest pride was her daughter, Kirsten Coons, and her two cherished grandsons, Trevon Mackall and Elijah Mackall. She worked tirelessly to ensure they had a life filled with love, comfort, and joy, always putting their needs above her own.
Carla was born in Danbury, CT on April 22, 1954 to William Wallace Dickens Jr and Elaine Gabrielle Dickens. She began her career as a nurse and went on to dedicate her life to caring for others at Almost Home Adult Daycare. In her free time, she enjoyed being outside maintaining her meticulously kept yard and any time spent with her family and beloved dog, Tansey.
In addition to her daughter and grandsons, Carla is survived by her sister Claudia Dickens Schoen. She was predeceased by her parents, William & Elaine and her brother William 'Wilbur' Dickens III. Also left to cherish her memory are her nieces & nephews, her 'son' Shavon Mackall, her god children and the countless people's lives she impacted throughout her 70 years.
She will be remembered for her unwavering kindness, her gentle spirit, and her ability to bring warmth and light to everyone around her. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit will live on forever in the hearts & minds of all who knew her.
Kirsten would like to personally thank the staff at both Memorial Sloan Kettering & Danbury Hospital, along with the countless friends & family that cared for & supported her mom throughout her 4-year battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.
We are planning a private burial for close family & friends, followed by a celebration of life. For those who wish to attend, details will be posted on https://everloved.com/life-of… as soon as they are finalized. You can subscribe for updates to be notified when details are posted.
