Carl's obituary

Carl Alexander Ysen, 90, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, of Albany, passed

away of natural causes on February 20th, surrounded by his loving family.

Carl was born on October 25th, 1934, in Bagley, Minnesota, to Carl Anton Ysen and

Christan Duff Low. He attended a one-room school as a boy and faced the loss of his father

at the young age of nine. Carl served in the Army Airborne as a paratrooper in the late

1950s. After moving to International Falls, Minnesota, he married Shirley Suomala on

October 17th, 1959. They had two children, Timothy and Natalee. The family relocated to

Albany, Oregon, in 1968, where Carl became one of the first employees of the Halsey Pulp

and Paper Mill.

Carl was a passionate Minnesota Vikings enthusiast. Throughout his life, he remained

active, regularly attending the YMCA, excelling at handball, and even joining a volleyball

team in his 70s.

Carl is preceded in death by his father Carl Ysen, mother Chrissy Harrington, stepfather

George Harrington, sisters Genevieve, Cynthia, and Sandra, and brother James. He is

survived by his wife Shirley, children Tim and Natalee, siblings Curt and Dot, grandchildren

Carl, Elisha, and Katrina, and seven great-grandchildren.

Carl will be remembered for his hard work, loyalty to loved ones, and the values he

instilled in his family. His legacy of love, honor, and courage will forever remain in the

hearts of friends and family. He will be deeply missed and always remembered.

Among Carl's most significant achievements was his commitment to his familial duties. His dedication to providing for his loved ones and ensuring their well-being was a testament to the depth of his love and commitment. Yet, despite his many accomplishments, Carl remained humble and modest, always prioritizing the wellbeing and happiness of others over his own.

The legacy Carl leaves behind is one of forgiveness and faithfulness. His capacity to forgive was immense and a lesson for all. His unwavering loyalty to his family members and friends was something to behold. This enduring legacy will forever be a source of inspiration and a guiding light for everyone who knew him.

Carl touched the lives of many, and his absence will be deeply felt. We take comfort in knowing that his spirit lives on through the valuable lessons he imparted, the memories he created, and the love he shared. Rest in Peace, Carl. Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure, you are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
