Carl's obituary

 Carl Edmond LundTulsa, Okla.Dec. 8, 1940 – Feb. 8, 2025

Carl Edmond Lund, 84, was called home by his Lord and Savior on February 8, 2025 following a courageous battle with cancer.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Carrie and son, Zach and wife, Maggie of Nashville; and three children from his previous marriage to Sue Wilson: Laurie Lund-Sellner and Blake Lund, both of Tulsa; and Brad and wife, Irma Lund, Oklahoma City; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Debi Thompson, Dallas, and brother Jeff Lund and wife, Kathy Lund of Tulsa. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Isaac and Dorothy Lund.

Born and raised in Oklahoma City, Carl was a proud graduate of Harding High School’s Class of 1959, where he served as the president of the student body and was awarded the schools’ Medal of Honor. He was a member of the Eagles’ football and track and field teams. Carl graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1962, where he was a member and rush chairman of Sigma Nu Fraternity and served in OU’s Student Senate. Carl remained a loyal Sooner fan throughout his lifetime.

Highly active in his children’s athletic and artistic pursuits, Carl coached youth hockey and soccer and served as president of Tulsa Boy’s Baseball. He had an eclectic and successful business career in Tulsa that spanned nearly 50 years - working in media sales, the country and contemporary Christian music industries, owned his own advertising agency, and had a stint as a petroleum landman before retiring in 2020.

He loved his Kirk of the Hills church community and was blessed to play a role in building a foundation of Christ in the fifth and sixth-grade Sunday School class students that he taught for 27 consecutive years.

Many described Carl as a legendary storyteller and he loved spending time with his family and friends on his back deck overlooking Mill Creek Pond. Wonderful memories were made with family and friends at Big Cedar Lodge in Missouri and on road trips to New Orleans and Nashville where he indulged his love of music.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Carl’s amazing life will be held at Kirk of the Hills on Saturday, February 22 at 2 p.m. Donations may be made to Kirk of the Hills.
