Carin Mitchell, 56, of Independence MO, passed away October 16th, 2018 at Independence Manor Care Center in Independence MO. Carin had been battling Metastatic Breast Cancer for the past twenty-one months.

Carin was born April 25th, 1962 to Barbara and Dennis Criner. She has two siblings: Suzie Cupp of Val Verde CA, and James Criner of Harrison AR. Carin graduated from Van Nuys High School in 1980.

Carin married Thomas Mitchell in 1985 and had three children; Stephanie, 30, of Independence MO, Jessica, 27, of Oak Grove MO, and Matthew, 7, of Independence MO.

Carin grew up in the San Fernando Valley area. She loved going to the beach and shell hunting. She loved visiting the tide pools at Leo Carrillo Beach in CA. Solvang CA was a favorite little Dutch town of hers north of the Los Angeles area. In 1996, Carin and her two daughters moved to Missouri – where its cold and there are NO beaches. Thanks Mom 😊 – Carin loved camping and traveling every summer with her family. She loved spending time with family and friends. Her home was always filled with love and laughter.

In 2011, Matthew was born. Matthew brought a whole new joy to her life. Her girls would joke he was her “mid-life crisis” baby 😊. Carin’s kids were everything to her. They were a close group and she will be missed terribly.

Carin is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas who passed in April 2018, her Father Dennis, and her grandparents Nina and Walter Jacobs. She is survived in death by her mother Barbara, her sister Suzie, her brother James, her aunt Jennifer, her children Stephanie, Jessica, and Matthew, and her grandchildren Izabella and Charlee.

Celebration of Life/Memorial Services will be held on November 10th, 2018 at 11:30a at Summit Grove Community of Christ Church, 411 S Lee’s Summit Rd Independence MO 64050
