Carlester's obituary

Carl F. Farmer, more commonly known as Bandit, was born to lead and protect. Born to the late Archie B. and Cleo Farmer, later raised by Gladys Farmer, Bandit was taught to provide for his family. He loved his family and was always ready for the task of covering those whom he loved. Bandit was known for his big heart and big laugh. He loved making people laugh. His laugh was contagious! Bandit loved to joke with his family and friends and always rewarded them with his huge laugh, especially his granddaughter, whom he loved to spend time with!

Bandit was born in Cleveland, Ohio where he attended the Cleveland Public School System and graduated from Aviation High School, which geared him toward the Military. As preparation for the Military, Bandit would run all over the city to condition himself with other men that were going to the Military as well! He never allowed anything to deter his pursuit of his goal. One time, he and the group were running through the Little Italy neighborhood, and were chased by grown men with bats and chains. Even as a young child and young man, he was a soldier, regardless of the task, rather it was protecting his brothers, sisters or cousins, he was that protector. Once he had to fight a grown man to protect one of his brothers. His little brother could not wait until he got back from the Military to revenge the loss! Thank God Bandit was not one seeking for revenge, just protection and provision for his family!

Bandit was known for his Comic Books and Video collections; he would continue to enjoy playing video games with his granddaughter later in his life! Bandit would always overcome adversity, when he was in the Military, it was so hard, he wanted to quit but said he didn’t because he didn’t want his brother Dennis to laugh at him if he were to quit. Bandit had many stories he shared when he got out of the Military which the family enjoyed hearing!

After completing his time in the Military, Bandit fell in love and married Carmen, who preceded him in death. They had two wonderful children that he loved and was very proud of. He often talked about how blessed he was for them and his granddaughter. Bandit balanced his time with family, friends and work. He worked for The San Diego Port Authority for 30 years until he retired. The biggest love his life in his later years was his granddaughter, Samaya. They enjoyed playing video games together. He designated an entire area in his apartment just for her to play games and be spoiled as much as possible. He often said,” I want to give her whatever she wants”, because he loved her so much!

He loved his family and will truly be missed by them. Because he lived in California, he stayed in touch with his family via phone calls and text messages. He was especially encouraging to his Sister-in-law, Tamara, while his younger brother Darryl was incarcerated! Bandit leaves to morn him his daughter, Joanna, his son Carlester Jr. (Vanessa). His sisters, Michelle, Deborah, Donna (preceded in death), his brothers Dennis (Sherry), Darryl (Tamara) and Derrick Farmer. Aunt, Alicee White- Farmer. Uncles, Mitchell and Michael Farmer. And a host of family and friends.

Bandit will truly be missed by all!
