Candy's obituary

Candy Sue Sellers (Bale) was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on January 30, 1959 to Kenneth Ray Bale and Betty Lou Bale (Babb/Gordon). She passed away, peacefully surrounded by love, on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at St. Mark’s Hospital, due to complications after surgery.

Candy enjoyed school and she graduated from Central High School in Breese, IL. in 1977. Her favorite subject was history and she found herself quite good at math. She continued her education as a non-traditional student at Utah Valley Community College, pursuing a degree in accounting.

She spent some time working in retail, she spent several years working at Provo Craft and Robert’s Craft in various positions, and she had a few bookkeeping jobs, but she spent most of her life being a homemaker and a caregiver.

She raised her 3 children as a single mother, they may not have had much, but their home was filled with love. She was dedicated to her children and loved them whole heartedly. She instilled a love of reading and music in each of them, she nurtured their individual personalities and needs, and always allowed them the space they needed to grow while ensuring they all knew she was always there.

She met the love of her life, Skip Sellers in the summer of 1999. They carried a long-distance relationship for a while before she moved to Oklahoma and they were married shortly after. Skip brought 4 additional adult children into Candy’s life and she counted this as one of gifts he gave her. Candy and Skip had a very special relationship. They faced many trials and unimaginable trauma together and even so, the love, trust, commitment, and dedication between them never faltered or waivered.

In addition to being an incredible mother, nurturing each of her children along their unique journeys, and an amazing and loving wife, she was a loving and caring daughter, moving her mother into her home and offering her love and support through her final days.

She was a wonderful and cherished grandmother and she adored each of her 7 grandchildren. She became a great grandmother recently and her two great grandbabies brought her true pride and such joy, becoming the center of many of her thoughts and conversations.

She was also a true and treasured friend. She was selective about who she allowed into her inner circle, but the few who made it in became lifelong friends and are considered family.

Candy was also a master crafter. She had skills in many areas, ranging from crochet, cross stitch, card making, scrapbooking, working clay, quilting, and too many more to name. She rarely kept any of her crafts for herself, and instead, she often had someone in mind when she began a new project. She shared her love of crafting with her family and her friends by gifting her creations and by teaching her skills to others.
