Calvin's obituary
Calvin was born to Paul and Velda Walker on August 1, 1955, in Charleston, West Virginia. He was the biggest mama’s boy and loved his parents dearly. Soon after graduating from Benson High School in 1974, he married and started a family. Calvin craved adventure and new places and would live in multiple places throughout his adult life, including Texas, Oregon, and West Virginia. Calvin worked for many years in Fire/EMT service and in construction. He was a skilled craftsman and could build anything from jewelry boxes to houses. In his retirement years, he discovered his love of pottery, especially throwing pots on a wheel, and opened a pottery and painting studio in San Tan Valley with his wife, Tara. Calvin was a true craftsman and created beautiful treasures of all kinds for others to enjoy.
His 1974 marriage to Marion Jones gave him his first experience as a father with the births of Tori and Jon. In 1980, he married Catherine Walker and raised her children Kim, Candy, and James as his own and then added the baby, Christina, to the family. After Catherine’s death, he married Tara in 2010. Tara had two adult children, Skye and Shea as well as three young children, Scarlett, Faun, and Shaun, so he happily stepped back into the role of raising kids. He was kind and loving to all his children, biological or not.
Calvin’s greatest joy was found in spending time with those he loved. He was extremely hardworking, going above and beyond to support his family. He was the kind of friend that others could count on and would willingly give the shirt off his back to anyone who asked. He was a gentle giant of a man and his death has left a huge hole in the hearts of everyone that knew him.
A celebration of Calvin’s life will be held at Encounter AZ Church in Mesa, Arizona on Saturday, January 15th at 3:00. Potluck after for all who want to attend.
