Calvin's obituary

Calvin Laquelle Hanks went home to be with our Lord and Savior on January 25, 2022 along with his brother Devin Jamaal Hanks. Calvin was born August 10, 1987 in Jamaica Queens, NY to the parentage of James and Priscilla Moore Hanks. Calvin was raised in a loving family and grew up in the holiness church under the dynamic teachings of Rev. Dr. Cecil Owen's. Due to many deployments the family moved many times before settling in Jacksonville, NC when Calvin was 10 years old. Calvin played football in middle school and high school with many wins for both teams. Calvin at the age of 17 became a father to Calvin Laquelle Hanks Jr. Although young Calvin was an excellent father. Calvin wanted to give his son his all so he enlisted in the U.S. Navy branch of the military. He travel abroad on this journey never forgetting to keep God and family first. Calvin has done duties in Baghdad, Afghanistan, Europe, Hawaii, Germany, Iraq, Iran and many more. Calvin was precise and grounded. Never wavering in his belief. Calvin never met a stranger he came in contact with. To know him was to love him. After retiring Calvin worked for Onslow Memorial Hospital until his untimely death as a phabotomist for years. All who knew Calvin loved him and the feeling was mutual. Calvin leaves to cherish his memories his parents James and Priscilla Moore Hanks off Jacksonville, NC. His son Calvin Laquelle Hanks Jr. His brothers James Hanks Jr(Jennifer) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Terry Hanks of Portland, Oregon.. His sister in law Devin Jamaal Hanks wife Janel Hanks. His girlfriend and best friend Lateese Squires. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, colleagues and more.
