Calvin's obituary

Calvin Kenneth Glover was born on August 28, 1954. He was the second child and first-born son of Johnnie Mae and Thomas S. Glover Jr. "Kenny" to his LOVED ones. Kenny had a good appetite and enjoyed his Grandma Mary Levy’s cooking. As a toddler he often said “make it good” as he was stirring the food his grandmother was preparing of course without permission and making a mess. He loved playing chef. He later became a pretty good cook and a fantastic grill master. Kenny was a wonderful son and brother. He was kindhearted, gentle, patient, soft spoken, good natured and just an all-around nice person he was our hero. Kenny enjoyed sports, but basketball was his love. He played basketball as a teenager and hoped to play professionally one day before he suffered a knee injury. However, it didn’t stop his love for basketball which he continued to play with family and friends. He did not miss a televised basketball game, rooting for his favorite team the NY Knicks. During commercials he’d shoot hoops in his driveway. He also loved music and had an extensive album collection. One year he saved all his summer youth employment money so that he could purchase a top of the line Reel to Reel music system.  He continued his love of music adding to his extensive collection. On July 7 1979 he married Michelin Thiong. Kenny was a good provider he worked as a Pharmacy Technician at Harlem Hospital, while also pursuing a degree in data Processing at Hudson community college. Michelin and Kenny were blessed with a son Richard and a daughter Jennifer. They purchased a house in Roselle, New Jersey adopted a dog named Moochie and began living the American Dream. Kenny took to the role of father with a great sense of duty. He made sure to always have a shoulder available for his kids to cry on. He passed on his thoughtful and empathetic, qualities to them. He felt being a dad was the best thing he ever accomplished and his kids were the best parts of his life. In later years Kenny got his CDL license and was a Long Haul Truck driver until he retired. His son Richard blessed them with a granddaughter named Kayla. He really enjoyed spending time with Kayla and she loved her granddad. Kenny is survived by his wife Michelin, his son Richard, his daughter Jennifer, granddaughter Kayla, his brothers, sisters, aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Kenny we will miss you, we love you, you are irreplaceable and forever in our hearts.

PSALM 23
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures;
He leadth me beside the still waters
He restoreth my soul.
He leadth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death
I will fear no evil; for thou art with me;
Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me,
Thou prepares a table before me in the presence of mine enemies
Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever
Amen
