Calvin's obituary
In loving memory🫶🏼🕊️
Calvin Coolidge Brown, born May 14, 1940, in Cofield, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2026.
Calvin was a man defined by his devotion to family, his warm spirit, and his irresistible Southern charm. Raised in a small town of Cofield, he carried the values of hard work, kindness, and community with him throughout his life. He met the love of his life, Mattie Brown, in Virginia, and together they shared more than 66 years of unwavering love, partnership, and commitment.
He was a proud and loving father to his four sons: Julius, Deon (Vicky), Theron, and Derick (Lynn). His legacy continues through all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, which became his pride and joy. He is also survived by his sisters, Dorothy Ann Moore (Melvin), Shirley Askew, and Sue Brown, along with a host of extended family and friends who will cherish his memory.
Calvin dedicated 30 years of hard work as a screedboard operator with Laborers Local 172. He was also a proud member of the Masonic fraternity, reflecting his commitment to brotherhood and service.
In his quieter moments, he found happiness in life’s simple pleasure by starting his mornings with a cup of coffee, later enjoying a Pepsi, sitting outside enjoying the fresh air, and spending meaningful time with family and friends. He also enjoyed visiting the casinos, adding a bit of excitement and fun to his days.
Calvin had a remarkable gift: everyone he met felt seen, valued, and uplifted. With his easy smile, hearty laugh, and genuine kindness, he left a lasting impression on all who crossed his path.
He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered as a man who brought joy, comfort, and warmth into the lives of others.
His life was a testament to love, dedication, & the power of a kind heart!
