Caleb's obituary
Caleb Andrew Bronkema was born on July 3, 2000 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He passed away unexpectedly on January 22, 2026 in Los Angeles, California. At the age of five, Caleb sincerely received the gift of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ. He was a beloved, loyal and protective son, brother, grandson and friend. His life displayed fruit in many ways, most notably through his genuine compassion and care for people who were struggling or in need. Caleb had a quiet way of noticing others, embodied a true servant’s heart and offered kindness without judgement. He was gifted with a natural wit and an uncommon ability to communicate deeply using a few words.
Caleb was a cherished member of a close and loving family. He was known for his work ethic and his adventurous spirit. Caleb had a passion for life and deeply appreciated the simple things. He found joy riding his dirt bikes, embracing any form of competition, and spending meaningful time with his family. He relished using his mechanical skills in the trades, to work on his truck and dirt bikes and to help those on the side of the road needing assistance. He loved board games, camping, cooking food over a bonfire, and sleeping under the stars—moments that reflected his contentment, practicality, and love for togetherness.
He is lovingly survived by his parents, Daryl and Melissa Bronkema; his siblings, Jordan (Kelly), Chandler (Caroline), Jackson (Anna), Savannah, and Faith; and nephews/nieces, Amelia, Rigley, Titus, and Blaire. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, yet those who loved Caleb take comfort in the assurance of his faith and the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ.
Caleb’s life leaves a lasting legacy of adventure, compassion, joy, and service to others—one that points others to the hope found in Christ. Romans 8:38-39: “For I am convinced that neither death nor life…neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (NIV).
Since Caleb especially enjoyed being outdoors in the warm weather, the family will host a celebration of life open house on Friday, June 5th, 2026 from 5 pm to 8 pm at Caledonia Lakeside Park. Food will be provided.
