Enjoyed watching Byron’s scri…
Enjoyed watching Byron’s script come to life with my son (in photo) and my sister Sharon Herrera.
Gloria, I miss him so much as I KNOW you do. I remember when he was directing a show at the Tulsa Handicapped center and asked me to come down and help with the set. I was there and tried to understand what some of the deaf was saying and they doing a sign I didn't understand. When I asked Byron what it meant he just looked at me and said. "they think you are dumb and slow" and then laugh. He was infectious and made me laugh too. I wish there was more time and always remember that he passed on the same day as Seneca just 7 years later. God Bless you and hope you are doing ok.
I miss him. He always made me smile whether hosting a tournament at Mandalay Bay where I was never just Darcy, but Darcy Darcy Darcy! Enjoyed talking to him at the dinners about his various projects. Loved seeing him at Super Summer Theater in the shows or behind the scenes. His one man Dickens reading of a Christmas Carol was superb. Fun Stories of celebrity friends were always so interesting. He was talented and he always made me smile. I do miss him.

I JUST NOW saw this. Gloria and Jen, I'm so very sorry. My sincere condolences.
I met Byron in 1974, I believe, when we were both cast in a show called A Bite in the Night, a musical that could be summed up as Groucho Marx meets Dracula. I was Groucho. Byron was a werewolf named Igor who, by the end of the show, was transformed into Harpo. We were also roommates that year and it formed a bond that was to last, with a bit of a break, until last week. We stayed friends through our time in NYC, until I left for the West Coast in '78. It wasn't until we reconnected via Facebook several years ago that we discovered we had lived only a few miles apart in Southern California. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to visit Byron in Las Vegas a couple of years ago, and to see him again a few years ago when he performed his Christmas Carol at his daughter Jen's theater in Tacoma. Then, last year, I reached out to him about doing a podcast, and Old Guys Bitching was born. We saw each other almost every week, via Skype, as we did our off the cuff show. But it was rare that we only spoke for the 30 minutes of the podcast. We'd often go on for much longer than the public got to hear. Yes, we had about a 20-30 year break in seeing each other but we picked it up as if no time had passed. And that was the way Byron was. If he knew you, you were his friend, whether you connected every day or not. We had plans for a more robust season of OGB but, alas, it was not to be. His life was cut short. But he will live on in my memories for the rest of mine.
Dear Gloria and Jen, So very sad to hear this news. What a good friend Byron was to all of us in Low Moan and how we enjoyed his stories of life in LV - along with his tireless efforts to bring one of our shows there! I feel very grateful that I happened to call him about a week we before he passed for updates on his health and his truly amazing show. We chatted for a long time and I hung up feeling very optimistic about his future - which makes this all the more of a shock. It's thanks to Byron that we know you both - and you should both know that he often told us how proud he was of you and how much he loved you. Do not hesitate to call if you have any plans to be in LA and please keep us posted of your moves and the next chapters in your lives. Anna and I send our thoughts and deepest condolences - and although we won't be able to make the Celebration of Byron's Life this weekend, be assured that a candle will be burning here in his honor. All our love, Alan & Anna.
This is just so very heartbreaking. My condolences go out to his beloved family and all who loved him. His presence will be missed in the theatre community. I can honestly say that he was the most generous, kindest, and giving person I have EVER worked with. He will always have a special place in my heart. Fly with the angels, my king.
One of the most gifted and talented people I've ever had the pleasure to know and work with. He will be missed by many, especially me. Love and condolences to his wife Gloria and daughter Jen. Heaven just got funnier.
Dearest Gloria & Jen,
Just found out about Byron's passing. I am really in shock and thinking I saw him not too long ago right here in LA when he told me he had a heart attack!
I am so sorry. He was a dear friend to Ron, myself and all of the members of Low Moan.
We'll miss him terribly. It's a very sad day indeed!
Love and hugs to you and Jen,
Cecilia Digghero-House
Heartbroken to hear this news. Byron Tidwell was a magical human being who touched my life with his incredible kindness, loyalty and hospitality. Byron and Gloria took me under their wing somewhat when my dear friend Lincoln passed away unexpectedly, and when I flew out to Vegas to see his show Byron not only insisted I stay with them, but also insisted upon driving me everywhere, ensuring I was safe, and most importantly telling me wonderful stories about Lincoln. Byron was empathetic, raucously funny and he knew EVERYTHING about the theatre. In short - he embodied everything I wish to embody in my later years. I will miss his correspondence, and knowing that he’s looking out for me from halfway round the world. I know he still is, and always will be. My thoughts, along with enormous amounts of love, go out to Gloria, Jen and the rest of his family and friends. ❤️

I grew up with Byron in Huntsville. He was one of the few people left that called me Patsy. I had hoped to see him in May when I came out there for my Grandson’s HS graduation. I will be praying for his family, especially Jen. He will be missed!
